Pottery Studio

Pottery is fun!! I enjoy seeing this transformation of a block of clay into something beautiful and useful. When you have the time and opportunity I strongly suggest trying your hand at it. :)
Here are some photos of the pottery studio where I go to learn pottery.

Here is a simple sketch illustrating the fascinating transformation of clay.

 Wheel.

 Some plates and pots and cardboard shapes which are used in handbuilding pottery.

                  Tools.

Combinations of glazes for reference.

Chemicals used for making glazes.

Glazes stored in big containers.

Furnaces. Pots are bisque fired at 1750 ^oF and glaze fired at 2150 ^oF.

 Ready for bisque firing.

Pots wrapped in plastic need to be trimmed when they are leather hard. White pots are bisque fired and need to be glazed.

Clean wheels for next class.

Cuban, Ethiopian and a random girl.

A Cuban I met on a street of Havana.

Ethiopian guy I see on subway every Wednesday. But after painting Bob Marley, I think this guy might be Jamaican. I should ask him I guess!!

Shoe painting is minimum 3 hrs job so meanwhile Avocado+honey spread on Cibatta bread..

And did you notice small brown bowl I made in pottery class?  :)

When there is Bob Marley, there should be red, green and yellow. 

All done!! Shoes were sold as soon as I published the picture.. Yeyyyy!!!

Kitty And Her Friend

    I have a very dear friend with long silky hair and heart for cats. The below sketches are inspired by her. 

   During our college days, when we were in hostel, she told us a hundred stories about her kittens. One night when we were asleep, we heard a sound. I didn't recognize what it might be but my friend jumped out of the bed and said, "its a kitten".

   We followed the sound to an upstairs passage, it was coming from under a pile of boxes. I immediately removed the boxes and found a small kitten "meowing". I was already feeling like superwoman as I squeezed through broken furniture and removed boxes. My friend picked it up and brought it to our room.

That night the kitty slept in our room.

      Here is my shopping tags collection. My mom says that I like to collect junk and I often used to get scolded for not cleaning up my drawer but I carried all my "junk", old greeting cards, letters, small notes from city to city. Past four years I moved to three cities including overseas and I carried all my junk. 

   Trying my hands on mixedmedia. 

Charcoaled Frame

   I had a small frame from many days which I bought from a variety store for just $1and wasn't quiet sure which picture I wanted to frame. Then one day I thought why not my own little creation and then this lady was born.
